About Us
PortBusiness.org is a non-profit association formed to promote business activities in the Port of Hueneme. Soon after forming PortBusiness we were contacted by other frustrated business people interested in establishing a branch to deal with port related issues at their local port. We decided to create an organization to deal with any local port issues no matter where they are.
We realize "all politics is local..." to paraphrase the former Speaker of the House Tip O'Neil; consequently, we realize each port has unique needs and needs a local solution with a national and international punch!
Port Business is setup to be self-managed at a local level. Members that join to address a particular port's issues establish the local working committee. The working committees solicit assistance from the Port Business Executive Staff. The executive staff prioritizes the issues at each port and creates an action plan.
The key to PortBusiness.org is our ability to push regulators (CBP, USDA and other regulators) without fear of reprisal from a rouge agent or port official. We address issues that may not be politically correct but need to be addressed.
